Webinar 1 - The Path to a Natural Birth: Unlocking the 6 Principles for a Positive Labor.
Are you wanting to give natural, unmedicated childbirth a go?
In this webinar you'll learn six principles that will guide you in preparing for a natural birth.
-
Let labour begin on its own. Allowing labour to start naturally reduces the risk of medical interventions promoting a more comfortable and physiologically sound birth experience.
-
Walk, move, and change positions. Staying active and changing positions during labour helps ease discomfort, improves circulation, and assists in your baby's descent through your birth canal.
-
Bring a loved one, friend, or doula for support. Emotional support during labour can reduce stress and anxiety, enhance feelings of empowerment, and provide you with comfort.
-
Avoid unnecessary medical interventions. Minimizing medical interventions when not medically necessary reduces potential risks and complications, promoting a more natural and healthy birth.
-
Get upright and follow urges to push. Upright positions and following your body's natural urges to push can make birth more efficient, potentially reducing the risk of interventions.
-
Keep mother and baby together. This helps promotes bonding, breastfeeding, and a sense of security for you both, supporting a smoother transition into postpartum life.
These principles will empower you and give you knowledge and confidence, contributing to a more positive and satisfying birth experience while prioritizing the health and well-being of both you and your baby.

5 ways to make your birthing environment more comfortable, quiet, dark and private
Create a Relaxing Ambience: Set the mood by bringing items that create a calming atmosphere, such as dimmable lights, essential oils, soothing music, or a favourite blanket or pillow.
Control Noise Levels: Consider using earplugs or playing soothing sounds or music to drown out any unwanted noise. Communicate with the birthing team to maintain a peaceful environment and minimize unnecessary disturbances.
Adjust Lighting: Use blackout curtains or blinds to block out external light and create a darker environment. Soft, adjustable lighting options, like lamps or battery-operated candles, can provide a warm and gentle glow, enhancing relaxation.
Ensure Privacy: Discuss with your birthing team the importance of maintaining privacy during labour. Close the door, put up a "Do Not Disturb" sign, or use a privacy screen to create a secluded space where you can feel more at ease.
Personalize the Space: Bring personal items from home, such as pictures, affirmations, or cherished objects, to create a sense of familiarity and comfort. Consider creating a birth plan that outlines your preferences for the environment, ensuring that your desires are respected and integrated into the birthing room.
Remember, effective communication with your birthing team is essential in creating a comfortable, quiet, dark, and private birthing environment. Discuss your preferences beforehand and collaborate to establish a space that supports your needs and enhances your birthing experience.
